Just how bad is a red analog hand on a black face?

Hi, I have a great deal lined up on the Red GA100B-B4, the red ana-digital G Shock with the red hour hand. I've read that the red hour hand disappears in dim light and it's so bad it caused many owners to sell their watch.

How dim does the light have to be before the red hour hand disappears? How agonizing and frustrating is this situation? I like the red casing so much that before the purchase, I feel I might be willing to put up with this minor inconvenience.

However, based on your experiences, how might this flaw affect me after the purchase?

I have a GW 1500-A (I know, different animal) with a red hour hand and it's no trouble in fairly low light. Of course, it has lights as well.

i think the main problem with the GA-100 was not that you can't read it in low-light conditions but the fact that the red hour hand disappeared under the orange LED-lighting so you can't read the watch with the illumination on.
