Just ordered strap adaptors for my M5600 - but which strap?

    Hi,
I just needed a change at my M5600. A couple of month ago I changed the case, because I was not really a fan of the red line at the display any more. So I ordered the case of the BC-model.

Now I ordered the strap adaptors for the DW-5600. Keith at Tiktox told me the will fit my M5600.

But I have now clue which straps will fit

    Can I attach 22mm Nato-/Maratac-straps?

Are Nato, Zulu, Maratac all the same? Just different manufacturer?

I love the black/grey ones and I am sure they will look great on my M5600.

Thanks for any hints about the straps useable

You'll be better off with 24mm. Just looks better and the watch doesn't slide around. A single piece Zulu will fit better than a 4 ring as well. There's just not quite enough room for the watch head with a 3 or 4 ring Nato type strap. Others do it, but it never looks right to me, and I've tried it as well. Up to you though.

Nato is a type of strap, pretty thin nylon best suited for smaller watches. Often referred to as a G10 strap. There are lots of sources for Natos. Some are crap and some are very good. Maratac makes the original Zulu which is similar to Rhino straps. They come in single piece and 4 ring. Other makers are copies of Maratac. Another option is Waterborne out of Australia. Likely the same fit issue as a Nato, but I've not tried them on a G.

    Cheers,
    Bruce

    Thanks Bruce for the infromation.

Would be great to see some pictures of a 5600 on a nato/zulu-strap. Have to google a little bit ;)

    What's this four-ring-thing?

    Kind regards

Give me a minute and I'll try to shoot a pic for you. 4 ring is the Nato type, be it a G10 strap or Zulu. The single piece straps have 3 rings. BRB. Actually I mis wrote. The singles have two rings. A Nato has 3. Some like the original Rhino and the Nato type Zulu have 4.

This is a DW5600E on a single piece 24mm Zulu

    A DW9052

    DW6900

All are single piece zulu. I tried to shoot more of my DW5600E with new Casio adapters rather than Maratac adapters just now. Let me process them real quick and see if they're any good.

Re: Just ordered strap adaptors for my M5600 - but which strap?

Oh well, my attempt at new pics failed. Running out of light here and I had my white balance set wrong. :)

Anyway, as you can see from the side shot of the DW6900, the watch sit's flush to the wrist on the single piece Zulu. It's higher than normal, but flush against the strap. With a Nato type, there's not enough room between the rings (where the watch head sits) for the strap to "flatten out". That doesn't allow the watch to sit down flush against the wrist and strap, unless your really crank it down. I've been trying to find out if the original Rhino in 24mm has more room between the rings, but have yet to find out. Haven't wanted to buy one just to see.

    Have a look here: http://www.broadarrow.net/maratac.htm

Half way down or so you'll see some pics on a 5600. You'll also see most of the possibilities we've been discussing.

    Cheers,
    Bruce

Wow... Bruce, thanks a lot for the great pictures.

I am really looking forward now fot the arrival of the adaptors. Will check your link for a nice maratac-strap. Just found an old black nato strap which I bought for another watch a couple of years ago, so this strap will be the first to be attached to the 5600.
But I will order the grey/black-strap in James Bond-style ;)

Once again... thanks for the photos Bruce.
