    lets talk basic square DW5600e...

...IMHO i think it needs a couple of "upgrades"

but before y'all jump on my case, please hear me out

much like todays automobiles, even the MOST basic cars come with power windows and power door locks, something that was not considered "basic" in the past...

So on to the basic square, and what I think it needs, much like a "refesh" or and "update" if you will. I often find myself WANTING to wear my 5600e, but there are a couple of things bothering me:

    1. being the an auto EL... im not asking for much but at least a "timed" auto EL would help, im always going somewhere either driving or on my bicycle, and having this option would greatly help when traveling at night.

    2. a little higher quality strap, im not expecting carbon fiber, but something less "plasticky". my strap has "stretched" hole where i would normally wear it when i want the watch to fit a bit snug on my wrist.

im not asking for much, but i think CASIO can do this with out changing the watches price point and it would be a welcome option to anyone looking to purchase a "basic" square G.

    ok /rant

    thanks for reading

(this thread is worthless with out pics)

How about a metal bezel, with inverted u-shaped cutouts for the buttons, and integral lugs for zulu straps?

As for changing the module, isn't the DW-D5600P the new 5600 going forward? CR2025 7 year battery, and 3 alarms, one of which is a Snooze? Too bad it didn't also adopt LED tech for the backlight. It couldn't have been a roominess issue if the humble F-91 has it, right?

Defenetly agree about the strap, its too stiff... DW-6600 or 6900 are in the same price point, but strap is diffrent, softer and much nicer to wear

Since there are so many Versions of the 5600 design around you will find anything you want in a 5600 shape.

    you need Auto EL:

    Softer straps:

    LED light:

Casio is very good in taking care to not have all the good things in one single watch!

Re: lets talk basic square DW5600e...

very true, but im not asking for anything crazy
the strap can just be of a more plyable resin doesnt have to be carbon or nylon/nato (the latter requiring a special adapter)
the auto EL is also quite simple, im not asking for the auto EL found on Solar models, but more of the "6 hour" variant found on some of the newer models like the gac110 etc. it doesnt have to be LED either

these new "upgrades" will make the watch more useful and as I mentioned its price point would still be in the same ball park

some squares fetch for outrageous $ this basic one should not

IMO, the DW-D5600P is the new "Basic" square. It has 3 alarms, A EL (timed). The 3400 series module appears to be their go-to module for all their watches that I would consider basic watches now.

dude, i believe auto LED means for the solar-power G's - otherwise, you have to replace the battery every 6 months using this feature -

and with solar-power, it comes with ? correcto ! more money, and this go against the "basic" inexpensive G

as for the strap, personally I have no complains - maybe you should wear it loosen a hole ?

there is a "timed" auto-EL found on NON-SOLAR models

i usually wear it on a looser hole, i mentioned when at times i wear it snug, over a sweater sleeve, gloves when cycling etc.
