Re: Lumix DMC-TS3 New Shock Proof Camera [A True G-shock Camera]

I would easily choose the Panasonic over the Casio, given the correct specs were included. Will have to read further.

I have owned a regular Lumix TZ3 and a Casio EX-Z55. The pictures on the Lumix, the 10x Optical zoom far outweigh the quality of pics from the Exilim. However, the Casio's different modes were innovative and worked very well. We need someone to do a comparision review!

    EDIT:

    Just read the spec!

Panasonic today introduces the LUMIX DMC-TS3, specifically designed for active users who want to capture high-quality photos and 1920 x 1080 full-High Definition videos, incorporating a powerful rugged design and new outdoor-friendly features, such as a built-in GPS function, a compass, altimeter and barometer. The new 12.1-megapixel LUMIX TS3 further strengthens its toughness, when compared to its LUMIX TS2 predecessor, and is now waterproof to approximately 40 feet (12m)*1; shockproof to approximately 6.6 feet (2m) *2; freezeproof to 14ºF (-10 degrees C); and dustproof

It also has "3D Photo", creates HD Movies in Dolby Digital, and has 4.6x Optical Zoom compared to the Casio's 3x.

Thing is, I'm sure a EX-G2 would be better than the Lumix, but the Lumix at the moment would probably win.
I cannot praise the TZ range enough...!

Shots from a Lumix DMC-TZ3, which is older, but these have been turned into Facebook JPEGs...:

    Wow, they've already released a TS3?! And I haven't even saved enough for a TS2 yet...

True, but the Panasonic has superior imaging features, and those are what's important in a camera. With the Exilim G1, it seems that Casio prioritized toughness first, and just added the camera features as an afterthought.

Anyway, I'd also vote for the Lumix. We've been using an FX-07 for four years and we've been pretty satisfied. The Lumix line consistently scores high marks in gadget reviews.

Sucks to be without a G.
