    Re: Made In ...??

Well, considdered the watches are made mechanically, the difference is nihil. Only the letters on the back vary after Made in.... I won't look too much where the watch is made.

    Cheers,

    Re: Made In ...??

my question back to you is:

if you found a G-Shock that you really like/want, it got all the function/feature that you want, and you are going to keep it and wear it, would it matters if its made in japan vs made in korea/Thailand?

(my answer: No. i am going to wear it and as long as its just as good as the rest of the G-Shocks, why would it matters. e.g. i am perfectly happy with my G9000 mudman and its made in thailand. i am not saying that i will keep it forever for sure, but i have no complain about where it is made )

    BUT

if this is a collector item, high price special edition or top of the line MRG, then made in japan would actually mean something (if i got a top of the line MRG7100 and pay the $$$$ for it, and found out its not made in japan, then i would be pissed :-D )

    Lightbulb Good Question

    I've always wondered myself

I think the differences that many of us know so far is the the Chinese DW-6900 has the plastic buckle where as the Japanese model, possibly also the Korean had the metal buckle. I don't think they made this model in Thailand.

Many of the Thai models have larger LCD digits which I also think are fainter, but then again many of the newer Japanese models also have similar so that's no difference.

The FROGMAN, considering it is the same module for a long time, still retains the original smaller and darker LCD digits.

These Frogman are made In Japan, although by no means all JA models.

Many people get confused between 'JA' 'Made In Japan', and 'Japan sold only models'.

Of course, many models that are Made in Japan are also sold on the overseas market.

For example the white 2006 Frogman.

Mine was a Japanese model, so on the box label shows a 'JA'. The model Skyhook sent me from Singapore shows a 'DI' which I think stands for Deutschland so shows a European model. (Photo below)

As far as the watch goes, no difference as far as I can see, just a difference in model number.

This is always an interesting topic, as long as people don't get to carried away and start getting upset over a Japan VS China thing which is more history now for most, although still carries on between the two countries.

    Just my OO..cents worth

    slight correction

i have had regular black DW6900 that's made in japan with black plastic buckle (with japan marked on it)

and i think DW6900 in yellow or purple has metal buckles instead

    Re: Made In ...??

    Thanks guys...

The reason for asking is I picked up 2 brand new 6600's and they are my first 'made in Korea' G's...I have various 'Japan' and 'Thailand' models in my collection, so I thought I would pose the question.

Sorry if it's been asked many times....
