    The main reason I don't wear G-Shocks

The soft-rubber case is the main thing I don't like about G-Shocks. I wear a lot of digitals, and Casio is one of the best brands. But that is the one thing I don't like about G's.

This is also true about some Timex Ironman and Expedition models. A few models of each.

But I'll wear a cheap homage like Ozark Trail anytime. I like the solid case, and the acrylic crystal which makes it lighter. The digital features are very basic, but that is not nearly as important most of the time.

What do you think of the soft cases on the G-Shocks?

You don't wear G's but your handle is "ShockMister"?
There are current G's like the MRG, MTG, Gsteel that do not have the removable resin shell. Also, there are many discontinued G's that are metal like the original MRG's, the G500's, GW1600's, many more.

    It's perplexing. Maybe he's lost.
We are all resin fetishists here so our answer may not be representative of the whole population.

The 7900's are my favourites, although the 56s are currently my focus. But nothing is excluded, except pink Risemans.

I was going to answer the OP's question....but instead I have to go over to the Omega forum and explain why I don't wear Omegas.

What the literal <insert creative text here>?

Just FYI for the OP - all G's have a SOLID case, although some also have a softer resin overlay/bezel.

Encourage someone. The world has enough critics.

I have seen you around before and given your name I was sure you were a G fan so this is confusing! Anyway G-Shocks do not have soft rubber cases they have a solid poly composite hard case. The thing on top that covers the case is called a bezel not case and is made of soft poly urethane resin material. This material increases shock resistance due to its bouncy properties that offsets G forces upon impact, also it protects the crystal from scratches. The bezel is easily replaceable if it gets damaged, one of the advantage of having that construction.

There is models like the MTG's and G-Steel were the outer material is stainless steel that is then covering a plastic case forming a sandwich construction. MRG is all Titanium. Amongst the regular digital resin bezel covered G's then you should perhaps have a look at the GX/GXW-56 King G-Shock as that one has a unique double layered resin bezel that is harder then on other G's. It is still soft but still a little harder then other bezels. The hardest resin bezel can be found on the experimental GD-200 G-Shocks that came with a harder resin material on the bezel and also a unique strap with a glass fiber insert making it the most stretch resistant strap ever.

Even the plastic cases are very hard and durable that's why it's the choice of soldiers, first responders, plumbers, mechanics, painters, etc. But if you don't like the plastic cases see below some models I previously owned with metal cases.
