I have a vintage 1199 (6600) when I press the light the numbers disappear if I turn the watch face to the left or down a few degrees. Ive had the watch since it was new, always did that.

So how would you replace the battery? You would have to buy a new watch? Why would the battery run out so soon if just go it less than a year ago?

the DW 6600 uses a CR 2016 and the battery can be replaced fairly easy.
    See here:

    https://forums.watchuseek.com/f43/how...ock-19704.html

It is stated in the manual that a battery can fade shortly after purchase because the watch might be manufactured quite some time before the buy.

When would the watch totally stop working? How often should you replace the battery? Also where can you buy batteries?

When the display gets dim, the beep gets weak and/or the light does not work the battery should be replaced.
