Moving to Japan to buy GShocks. Good idea?

Ha, kinda. I'm going to Japan for a few months for work. I used to hang around here a lot, but these days I'm pretty much a 1 watch guy, and its a timex . I stop by once in a blue moon to check out whats new, and those new mudmen are pretty sweet I must say. Anyway, my question is this; I know japan has stuff that's not available in the states, but is there any advantage to buying a ghsock over there, like price? I would like to pick up a watch while I'm there as a souvenir or memento and may be leaning towards a citizen but was just curious if there is any significant savings vice just buying from a japanese online store/seller that ships to the US.

    Thanks guys

    Lucky you!!!

I'm still waiting for my chance to visit Japan.

But a colleague of mine was just there recently and he informed me that the prices in Japan for Gs are almost double what we can find here locally in Singapore...

Not sure whether the places he went to shop made a difference.

Where in Japan will you be stationed, may I ask?

The fun is the 2nd hand shops. No G-Shocks in pristine condition, but you can find cool Gs. Not cheap. G-Shocks are similar priced as in Europe, or, with the recent rates even more much more expensive. Cool thing is you can buy JP only models. Price is around -10% retail price at big electronic stores. If you are from/in the US, you find G-Shocks for very good prices, around similar to Singapore.

    Cheers,

Bit off topic I know, but I can't see people talk about Japan without thinking of this now...

Actually no I didn't! Are you sure? He's supposed to be a Japanese character in the program.

If he's really speaking Chinese then I only wonder if it was a deliberate joke or if the voice actor just claimed he could speak Japanese because he really needed the money and thought nobody would notice.
