    mt-g questions

I've been thinking about diving with my MT-G, but I can't get over the fact that it does not have a double locking clasp. Am I just being paranoid?

And the dial says, "WATER 200M RESIST"
But the back says, "MADE IN THAILAND Y WATER RESIST 20BAR".

Very strange to use two different measuring conventions. And what's up with the "Y"? I know that means "and" in spanish, but I don't think they would throw in one spanish word, when the rest are english.

Don't know enough about diving to help on the clasp question, but FWIW my old MTG also had the Y. Says Made in Japan Y Water Resist...

    Re: mt-g questions

I like mine alot. The bracelet and clasp are solid and strong, so I wouldn't worry about that. The movement is flawless and it synchs every night with the Atomic clock. It's a great looking watch, and I anticipate years of enjoyment

Regarding Thailand, mine shows made in Japan, are you referring to MTG-1000?

Here's a Youtube review I did on it by the way...

    Re: mt-g questions

The 'Y' is a code for which factory produced the watch. Casio uses 200m and 20 BAR depending on where the watch is to be sold. It is no surprise in these days of watches being composed of parts made in different countries, that you might end up with both on one watch.
I used to list my watches here until I realised it ruined people's Google searches...

My MTG-910D has the Y and the 20bar, 200m, too. But what about the missing double locking clasp? Does it say 'G-Shock MT-G' on the outside? Photo?

Yes, it does say 'G-SHOCK MT-G'. I'll take some pics tonight.

    Re: mt-g questions

Looks fine to me. And after checking my own 910D I have realized that the MTG910D doesn't have a double locking clasp by default.

    Re: mt-g questions

So, would you feel confident the clasp would not come undone while diving?

Maybe, I should ask this on the dive watch forum.
