Yes, they are all rugged and durable. The Mudman's advantage is the sealed buttons, which means there is no possibility of sand/grit clogging up the button areas.

All Gs are rugged and durable. The Mudman resists mud from entering crevices around buttons, etc.

...and due to their specific bezel design appear a little chunkier and more serious tool-watch looking One only needs to take a quick glance on DW-5500 and DW-8400 Mudmen, although the G/GW-9000 aren't that bad either.

IMO, it's hard to beat the venerable DW-8400 Mudman series

I bought one for my son when he went off to the Navy. He is a cook, and I figured that if a Mudman could keep out mud, it could keep out batter too.

What about against the other Masters of G, in particularly the Frogman?

Each Master of G model is designed and engineered to excel in a particular application, so to compare them against each other is pretty much pointless, especially since it can be assumed that they enjoy the same level of shock resistance and durability anyway. They only differ in certain features that their intended environments may require.

In this example, the Mudman may actually be at a disadvantage against the Frogman. See, the Mudman is designed to keep out mud and sand with extra resin covers, but they can also trap and hold seawater inside the bezel, exposing the stainless steel components to potential corrosion in the long term. The Frogman's all-titanium case does not (and will never) have this problem.

Sucks to be without a G.
