Picture My 2 New Risemans Arrived: U.S. & Japan Version

Two Riseman GW9200's arrived in the mail today. The U.S. version uses module 3147 while the Japan version uses module 3145. The U.S. version comes with a manual in English and this watch allows you to toggle between Metric and Imperial systems of measurement. It will allow you to use measurement systems at the same time. For instance, you could set the temperature to measure in Fahrenheit and have the Altimeter measure in Meters or have the temp in Celsius and the Altimeter in feet. The Japan version only allows Metric measurements.

The U.S. version came in a tin, sans the small pillow, while the Japan version comes in a box with a pillow.

I am somewhat surprised at previous comments that the watch seemed smaller than expected. My impression is that this watch wears as chunky as a DW6900 (which I like). It's appearance is somewhat more refined looking (less tactical) than the DW6900, so that could be a reason why it may seem less bulky to some. One big plus for me was that the red button is recessed and really doesn't stand out like the Mudman G9000, so no black dye job for this one! The strap keeper has no choice but to stay in place with this watch as Casio brilliantly moulded an area on the end of the strap that sticks up and is grooved, to keep the strap keeper in place. In fact, you have to kind of work to get the watch off.

The back cases are different which I think is rather cool. The U.S. version has what looks like an oriental dragon, while the Japan version has what Casio International describes as "Engraved on the back of the case of this new RISEMAN model is an illustration of a dragon ascending to the sky."

I haven't gone through all the features yet, but here are a few photos:

    Thickness compared to a DW6900

    red button is recessed

strap keeper stays in place due to the tip of the strap

Wow ! That is great, both versions, that's definitely a first... despite Buzz's attempt to distract I'd still like to see photos of the watches ...

Isn't that from Transformers? It's sad if I recognize it from the movie...I know .

And glad they got there. Wow...didn't know there would be two different casebacks!!

    And of course:

The japan version does for sure, but it sounds like the US version has a dragon (plus a 'better' module )...

    Very interesting.
