Hello once more peeps.
I thought it would be interesting (for me anyway), to find out what G-bargains people have bought.
Mine is the DW 9000 shown below, it cost me the princely sum of 99p from a local charity shop about seven years ago. The battery was dead, and it was soooooo grimey that it should really have been sealed in a plastic bag marked 'Biological Hazard' then given to the appropriate authorities for safe disposal......
As was (is) my way, I bought it and threw it in a drawer to have a look at later.......I hasten to add that this was before I became bitten by the G-bug.
Anyway, I rediscovered it a couple of weeks ago whilst sorting out some boxes of junk and I decided to thoroughly clean / decontaminate it and fit a new battery. Not surprisingly, it worked perfectly.
To finish things off I retouched the bezel text with some of my wife´s silver nail varnish, polished some minor scratching out of the crystal with my Dremel and some T-Cut, polished the very badly scratched caseback with progressively finer grades of Wet & Dry paper, then made a webbing strap keeper to replace the perished original.
It was not a complex or intensive / expensive restoration project, but for a total of about 3.00 GBP I am very pleased with the result.
