My first 35th Anniversary pick up

The delivery man arrived this morning and brought my first G from the first wave of G-Shock's 35th Anniversary.

It came in the new card box...

It came in the new tin...

And... it was the GW-5035A! As a fan of the GW-5000, I knew I would get one of these whatever happened.

It's a nice piece with some good detailing on the gold colored screw back. The back says Japan K for anyone interested in where it was made.
As starscream has previously pointed out, the resin is VERY VERY black. It's like it has been powder coated it's so black. If they decide to sell spares for this, I'd be interested in trying them on my regular GW-5000 but at the same time, I suspect it may scratch really easily and look old in a few days!

Aaarggh, Casio! Why, why oh why, is the negative display no better than 10 years ago? I bought the GW-5000HR hoping for a better negative diplsay (but no better than my GW-M5610BC) and this is the same. Such a cool watch deserves to be read easier.

And with the rest of the GW-5000 family. I know, I'm missing the 5000B!

    Thank for reading.

Oooh me likey. The rough finish on that matte black resin really is interesting. I suddenly don't regret preordering one of these, so thanks for the awesome photos.

It was Grandfather's and when Father gave it to me he said I give you the mausoleum of all hope and desire.... I give it to you not that you may remember time, but that you might forget it now and then for a moment and not spend all your breath trying to conquer it."

Hard to tell from your pictures but is the strap keeper also gold, like the screw back? Anyhow, congrats on the new watch and an excellent addition to your already awesome collection of squares!

    I like that one!

However - Why can Casio not release watches like that with positive displays as well?

Never saw this Watch up close. Very handsome Watch, and smartly not overdone on its face.

Oh, man, that 5000 family makes me weak in the knees. Impressive collection! I know I'll get a nice Japan-made square someday, just not that all-black.

Thank you This was a blind order, never saw this case before. But it's nearly the same case like the GA-700, just a bit smaller and simple buttons on the side. The face looks really clean. I think that's a perfect watch for wearing in winter time.

Thank you. Yes, the strap keeper is the same gold as the case back.
