    My first screw back DW-6500.

Finally got this in the mail today. This is my 3rd 6500m, but first screw back. I love the build of it.
I think I am going to order a new bezel, but first I will see what I can do with this one. I'm more of a buy it at the flea, and make it work. It's character.
This is how it came out of the bag. Keeper was in two pieces.
    Total was $71.00

Working on the bezel screws now. They're not making it easy.
Trying a old gun smithing trick. Place a flat screwdriver that's slightly small in the slot, and tap on it while turning. So far, two are out.

    Looks good inside.
I don't have a wrench, so I used double sided mounting tape stuck to the bottom of a small bowl.

good trick with the adhessive band to open the back.

id not try to unscrew the bezel screws, they will most likely break if u try hard. if they wont losen up easily, better letting them inside. bezel can be ordered from brasil, band anywhere else, o-ring too.

    great watch.

Re: My first screw back DW-6500.

I'd get a new o-ring for it, the one in there looks slightly stretched on the right of the photo?

I will also echo about not bothering with the screws, no need because the brazil bezels are pretty pliable and easily push on over the screws no problem.

Re: My first screw back DW-6500.

    It’s ALIVE!!
It gave me a scare at first. The screen was blank until I remembered to reset it.
Cleaned it up, borrowed a keeper from my DW-5600E, and replaced a band pin. I’ll pick up a o-ring when I make an order.
I may just keep it like this, I don't see any deterioration on the strap or bezel, and I think I'm ok with the scratch. It's part of it's history.

Unfortunately, the sound does not work.
Also, i haven’t had a watch with this type of light since I was a kid, is it normal for the light to only come from the left side?

For the record, since I can’t change my other posts, DW-5600 H 901
Decided it looked good enough to bring out the real camera, not just my phone.

Looks awesome and agree about the character.

Interesting trick. How does the tapping help?

To clarify, what I am doing is tapping on the end of the screwdriver with a small hammer, while at the same time, carefully trying to turn the screwdriver with my fingers.
Ideally, this will jar the screw loose while avoiding the possibility of stripping the screw head, or breaking the screw from too much torque.
