    My first solar revival!

Found this Gw-500 on fleabay listed as new but dead. Got it in today, and after charging all day, got it to Medium and it Sync'd at 10PM. I've seen some videos on the "dead" solar watches and found good luck on this purchase >$30 to my door. Anyone else have some revival stories to share?

I had great luck with a ‘dead’ Citizen dress watch. Just keep it in the window for a few more days so it gets way into the high charge. Congratulations!

I'm always on the lookout for "dead" or "requires a new battery" solar G's, and have had a fair number from ebay over the years. I actually can't remember any that haven't sprung to life after a few days of decent light, (those that have had a rechargeable battery in that is, some that I've picked up have had standard batteries in, as others on here can attest to with some of theirs no doubt!!). If you plan on getting more, then my strong advice is to always check the battery as a first course of action before attempting to charge it.

As it happens I have another one on the way:

I placed the watch on top of a lamp that has an LED bulb (4 watts I believe, very little heat) face down, and woke up to the watch on H. Of the solar watches I've had, once I get to H it never seems to drop back to M.

I’ve read about “dead” G’s getting the kiss of life from the sun. Congratulations.

Bought this back in April at a Goodwill for $6. Took 2 days of Arizona sun but finally woke up. My son wears it and it's been on H since.

    Re: My first solar revival!

A couple of years ago I got a MTG-900 on the bay for (IIRC) $8, with a "dead" battery. It fired up, but unfortunately, something was wrong with the cell. It would periodically go blank and then come back on. I ended up having to buy a new cell, but it was still a mint condition MTG for a little under $30 total investment. I no longer have it, and it was my only cheap dead battery score.
Encourage someone. The world has enough critics.

    Re: My first solar revival!

all these stories reminds me of a dying car i bought. guy was selling a Beretta for $750 because the motor was going. i started it up, pressed the gas petal a few times and offered him $500. he jumped on it like he felt he was ripping me off and i was a fool. went to the ATM, paid him and drove to my mechanic and told him i needed a new motor mount. $86 installed and she drove perfectly. i put over 100K miles on it before the main computer and brake lines needed replacing. sold it for scrap and got $250. only thing i put into it was oil changes and a set of tires.
