Lightbulb My own Black x Gold 6900 (DW-069V-9V)

Recently I picked up this piece that I think is fairly rare. It was listed as used but in excellent condition. I wasn't disappointed when I received it

The engraving on the back indicates this is a DW-069 (the seller listed it as DW-069V-9V), with module 1289 and it was made in China. There's a CE sticker on the back, so likely was originally sold in Europe. I searched the Internet for information on this piece but didn't turn up much. If anyone has information, please do share.

Now I know gold color on a G-Shock can be very divisive - some won't go near it even if it is made of real gold, while others take to it like bees to flowers. Yours truly will go for it if it is nicely done (in my eyes of course).

This is how it was when I received it, with strap adaptors and a gold colored nylon band. The G-Shock name is part of the strap's weaving, which I thought is very nice.

Notice how almost everything is gold toned, including the dial and the lower LCD window. The 3 'eyes' have a blue tint.

However, I picked up this piece because I have further intention for it, albeit a rather simple one. I wanted to swap out the nylon strap for a set of black resin bands. After some minutes taking off the adaptors (including a few minutes lost searching for flying spring-pins), this is the result:

    And a wrist shot:

Less in-your-face-bling-y now, and IMHO, perfectly wearable for most casual occasions.

Whoa that is a pretty flashy. Only G-Shock would be crazy enough to make a Gold Resin watch. Glad you like it!

Never even knew a model like that existed until today.

I too never knew there was a DW 069 series till I saw the listing. Had to do some digging around first and saw that parts were listed for it at boley.de, so figured it must be okay.

From photos I could find on the net, the resin is actually natural coloured, and the gold color is sprayed on and will come off if knocked or scratched.

I'll have to be careful with this one when wearing it. But I think it's pretty unique, only behind the 'gold skin' 7800 in color outlandish-ness.

    Great acquisition there!

I like this colorway so much better than the recent blingy black/gold DW6900CB-1.

Thanks! I wore it yesterday and received more than a few nice comments. I think it is because the gold color is somewhat muted and not shiny, so it is quite wearable.
