    Narrowing my search...need help

I have been looking for a Frogman, but I am looking for some guidance on models and pricing. There appear to be a large variety of models and I am not sure what is the "standard" or expected pricing.

The models that I have looked at:

    25th Anniversary
    Triple Crown
    Black Helios
    Black Spot
    Dolph/Whale
    Master Blue

I have seen pricing on these ranging from $250-$450. Is the price difference in these models based on rarity and demand or are there differences in function also?

If anyone has a good feel for the market and would like to give ma ranking of which versions are most and least desirable with approximate values of each, that would help a great deal.

Also, I prefer the all black styling of the Helios and Spot styles. Would it be completely unheard of to take a different version and dye it all black?

    Any feedback is apprecated.

i think all the models you mention have the same features, thus the only difference being rarity/price, from what ive seen TC's go cheapest, followed by Master Blue, then ICERC (204/205), and then the rest, most expensive is the Black Helios i reckon. you could a TC black if you wanted to, that way would save you some wonga.

Yep, as Lee said, TC (Triple Crowns, of which you listed one version, the GW-200TC-3) are the most affordable, so if you want all black, you can soak it in goof off to remove the lettering, then wash it, and then dye it black. The models you listed are all "200" series Frogmen, so they have exactly the same functions. In fact, I have one of everything you listed except the Dolphin/Whale, and the Triple Crown (though I did have two of those, but sold/traded them).

Prices are surely due to supply vs. demand. I do believe the Black Spots and Black Helios versions are the most sought-after in the list you provided.

It's hard to provide values, as it's really up to the seller, and if anyone is interested. I think the range you found ($250-$450/500) is about right.

x3 ditto ... just avoid the Brazilians, but then again, if you're after the all blacks, that should'nt be a problem.

You see the Blk Helio's for sale every once in awhile (i.e. one of Topher's went up recently) or as suggested already, you can Goof Off then dye them...I created mine by Goof Off-ing a ICERC bezel and adding the black strap off of an 8200 (fits fine, btw) to create my all black TC Frog. Looks fine to me and works as a beater Frog.

Support the above advices. But if Dolphin/Whale is talking about GW-202k, it is the most expensive.

I have purchased a Black Helios that was for sale in the sales corner on this forum. I should have it on Monday or Tuesday. Thanks for all the feedback.
