    Need help in identification

I just got a big box of watches from a retiring repairman. There's one that doesn't have a model number on the back. It has MTG on the band, but GMS on the back. It is a screwdown back, and the only number on the back is #007. On the face it says 300 water resistant. I just wondered if anyone had one of these, and knew what model it is. I wanted to download the manual, and can't without a module number.

It might be a special surf-collaboration version of the G-2000 or *breath* one of the fake G-2000s (because of the strange backplate print).

here is Sjors report about fake G-2000:

there's no triangle on 12oclock of the second dial.
the font seems a bit off.
maybe you can clarify if its authentic by going through its functions?

    Hi Katherine,

Looking at the font of G-Shock, it looks like it is one of the many fake G-2000's (mainly sold as a G-2000FL). If the buttons are very easy to push (like there is almost no resistance), you can assume it is fake. G-Shock and Baby-G buttons have some resistance, due to the double gaskets for the water resistance.

As far as I know a G-MS has no screwback, but actually you are the expert in Baby-G.

    Cheers,

    Sjors

looks like a fake g-2000. there's no Foward/Reverse function on the watch, let alone the bezel. It should be Start/Stop instead

I had to dig out my wrench, but took the back off. I had to change the battery. The functions are Alarm, Duel Time, Timer, Stopwatch, The light is blue. If it is a fake, it's got a nice feel to it. The band reminds me of the band on my baby frog.

Definitely a fake. Compare to the real one (picture credit: Sjors)

The G-SHOCK lettering up top is off, as are the LCD numbers. Also, the fake has something about water resistance where the real one has Shock Resist and Alarm/Chrono. Larger pictures might help as well.
