Cool Negative display mod on 9900 Frogman

So, a few months ago I dyed my WCCS 9900 Frogman black.

I was VERY pleased with the results, but it got me thinking that the next stage would have to be a negative display mod.

Of course I ummed and arred about it for a few months, as I was a bit scared of screwing up my favourite watch, but today I took the plunge.

    Here's the result:

    What do you think?

I like your mod. Did you, by chance, document your mod? Overall, I like the look because its different (ND-Frog?).

Nice, but why are all the unused LCD segments visible? Did you rotate the polarizing film only partially? I tried this on a 200 series frog, but I was never happy with the legibility (the LCD of the frogman is so deep inside the watch, it doesn't get a lot of light to reflect back). Never tried it on a 9900 frog

+1 I want to see how you did this even though I've read the tutorial and tried on my GW-M5610 but only half heartedly since I never made it permanent with the polarizing film as I didn't peel off the tape.

Sorry, I didn't document it. Thought about it, but I decided in the end that there were already enough guides on this forum to doing negative display conversions. I was only able to approach the mod myself because I'd read posts from other users on here showing me what to do. I hope the search function provides something helpful for anyone wondering how I did it.

Thanks. :) Yeah I don't think Casio ever officially made a negative 9900, so I suppose I have something pretty rare now.

It's just because of the use of flash photography along with the angle. If you take pretty much any casio and put it in the right light at the right angle you'll be able to see the lcd segments. In 95% of light conditions/situations you can't see the unused segments though, I promise. :)

Great minds think alike. I just happened to be wearing this formally clear jelly frog today...
