    "New" G-7800

This arrived along with my late 90's G catalogs yesterday, the awesome G-7800. This series came out in 2008. Packed full of interesting features including: adjustable font type, adjustable contrast, multiple date display options, customized text, amber and red led flash, chime/alarm that can be set for weekends only, weekdays only, certain times of the day like 8 to 5 for example, big buttons, and BIG digits, a 5th light button, auto EL, the list goes on. It weighs about 1/2 ounce more than a standard non-screwback square and has a nice thick strap with little vents underneath/side. Just a fantastic G, I'll be looking out for more of these, maybe a negative display...

Much fun with the G-7800. The G-7800 has much to offer. Why has casio stopped production?

I wish the same Inca Bloc. The date options are plentiful on the G7800. If I make today look like what you prefer, 23-08, that would appear in the bottom section. Then I can scroll through various options for the rest of the date that's displayed in the top section. Either '17 WED or WED or 2017 or WED '17.

    Re: "New" G-7800

The G-7800 has a terrific module, very unique. It's a shame that CASIO didn't resurrect it in some form, or even make a solar/atomic version. I think the exposed inner metal bezel was the main fault for this watch. It made it a definite "casual wear" watch, not one you'd take "off road." Some people did, and those metal bezels got all scratched up to bits. Real shame.

I've got two of these (one of each display: positive and negative). I plan on keeping them for the long haul, as they've become particularly uncommon these days and are commanding a lot more money. I expect there will be a G-7800 renaissance and we'll see more people seeking them (and causing the price to go up further still).

CASIO likes to revisit older watches that went out of favor but then had a revival during the discontinued period. Many haven't been revived, but who knows... the G-7800 may return as a GW-7800 someday.

    Re: "New" G-7800

Yep the G-7800 will be more of an office wear piece for me, similar to my MR-G's. Not worried about getting it wet, but it probably won't be going on any rigorous outings. Plenty of other pieces in the stable for that.
