Smile New ProTrek PRW 7000; The most complete analog?

Hey guys, look what Casio JP has uploaded! It's the new PRW 7000 :D

This is a model focused on water activities so it has a display for best fishing times, 200M water resistance, tide and moon age AND sunrise and sunset times. FINALLY

Edit: And of course with the now standard ABC features ;)

    Here's the link!

    Cool! That one has potential.

One thing I noticed about this watch is that I don't see a "world time" city ring. Maybe it's just not visible in that pic, don't know. If there is not one, I wonder why? It does have the world time function, as listed in the specs. It also 'appears' to have a screw-down crown.

Wonder if the bezel is stainless steel? It kind of has a look similar to the PRW-8000T. This one is also pricey, at 82,000 yen!

I need another Protrek like I need a hole in my head, but maybe I'll take a closer look at this one at some point.

I wonder if this is the Protrek Casio is introducing this year at Baselworld...

Good find, looks like a new module design, never seen this design before

Edit: Just looking through the Google translated specs, it really is the complete package

20ATM WR, ABC+T, solar atomic, tide graph, sun rise/sun set, moon data. Definitely a new module design, I wonder if they will put this in a G-Shock as well. Unfortunately, it say July release, really looking forward to this one now

I ran the translator through the page, I think its says Moon Age (number of days in each cycle), not Moon Phase (shape of moon). So you don't see the familiar moon diagram, but only a number. It has 24 hour stopwatch, but only a 60min timer. What's never done before is a dual illumination with Neon for analog dial, and LED for digital display. Rest is the same as OP said.

For $720USD, you are paying primarily for its exterior designs rather than functions. Because 90% of the functions have already been done in lower price Casio's.

Sunrise sunset at last. Guess I have to wait until July was really keen on the 6100 but now this has SS I will wait.

HUH?!! Hadn't seen that, that sounds very very cool!!

Yes it has moon age, probably similar to what the Gulfmaster does. In fact, so far, the Gulfmaster has technically been one of the fullest-featured Gs or Protreks because of the addition of moon age and tide graph. What it is missing that this new one has is sunrise/sunset. (which I like a lot) Look forward to seeing what other color combos Casio brings out on this one.

To me it has a fairly clean looking dial, and I like the prominent hour markers. Look forward to also seeing other views/angles of this one!

Glad Casio is sticking with their tried and true formula of making sure at least one crucial feature is missing for a sizable percentage of their intended target market!

For me and many other ProTrek aficionados a major letdown is the (IMHO) idiotic lug design that precludes simple adapter-free installation of a NATO or ZULU strap. The 22 mm wide lugs and thick stainless steel band attachment barrels on the PRW 2500, PRW 3500, et al. were 1000% bombproof and ideal for those of us who believe *true* tool watches invariably ride on NATO/ZULU straps! Adapters are, for me at least, a pretty half baked solution since they always add so much width to the watch that the buckles of NATO or ZULU straps wind up in a pretty uncomfortable spot on my wrist. Indeed they are often so wide that they actually won't allow 5 ring ZULUs to be used at all.

Nice try Casio, but my wallet won't open for this... That said, it does tick lots of boxes for lots of users and I anticipate it will sell very well.

Never mind. After re-reading your comment, I think you meant PRW2500 etc are easy to fit NATO, but not some of the newer Protreks.

Yup. Unless I'm missing something in the PRW 7000 picture a NATO or ZULU strap will be a no-go, and any aftermarket adapters released are going to offer a less than optimal fit. Still looks better and seems far more complete than the Mudmaster though, a model that, despite also having a $eriously nose bleed price tag, cuts too many corners on function in the name of form IMHO. Will be nice to see how the new "horizontal correction" compass works out. Hope it also offers altimeter "trek logging" like the PRW 3500, notably absent from the GW 9400, GWG 1000, GWN 1000, et al.
