Okay G-ents, some of you knew that I was waiting for a new arrival this week -- and here it is -- the GPW-1000RAF!! (yes, my 3rd GPW already! )
First impressions: well of course as this is my 3rd GPW, it's obvious I really like the size/style of the watch. With the RAF, I do like the sleek grey coloring of the resin, and especially the red jelly addition to the strap! The red "Z" on the button is cool looking, but is really just a gimmick, because as far as I can tell, this button functions exactly the same as the button on any other GPW -- which is to say, it only puts the hands on the lower left subdial into UTC mode, but only when the crown is pulled out one click. (not very useful for a pilot, IMO, especially since the markings on that subdial are so small, and because the crown should not have to be pulled out to get it into zulu time, AND because zulu time should show on the MAIN dial hands for a few seconds, not on subdial hands for it to be truly useful. But I'm not a pilot, so it isn't really an important feature to me.) Overall though I think it is a very sharp looking watch, and a good addition to my GPW stable.
This joins my GW-A1000RAF, which I will soon take some pics of next to this one. But for now, here's the GPW in all of its awesomeness! lol
*** At first, I didn't think I'd like the strap keeper... But, I believe it is my ONLY g-shock strap keeper that is both metal and finished in black IP!! So in fact I do like it!!
I really like the "red jelly" underside of the strap!!
And finally, a group shot:
