Distasteful to me, especially if they cost more than a regular 5600

I like how you're already complaining about the retail price when no price information has been released yet.

Not a big fan but I can't complain about more choice. I hope the "5610" part signifies bezel compatibility with the M5610, that would give us some nice options.

Why are you complaining about a guaranteed sub $100 USD watch?

Not complaining. No idea of the price. Just saying I don’t see more value in this than the regular 5600.

    It looks different/cool.

There is your "value" added. Practically every "special" version of the square that is just a DW-5600E that looks different is the same in this way.

The best examples of this are the DW-503x anniversary G's that are "just" a DW-5600E in a proper stainless case. They literally do nothing over a DW-5600E than cost significantly more. :)

And then there are the Metal Bezel G's which are just a DW-5600E with a metal bezel, probably the "worst" of the current offenders (IMHO, I fail to see the utility of using a metal bezel for a plastic case watch, but these usually aren't bought for their utility.)

People will pay more for the "shiny" one, even if its no functionally different than the non-shiny version. Watches are mostly male jewlery, so of course even the "lowley" G shock will bend the knee to the all mighty gods of fashion on occasion.

One could also determine that the "easy" money Casio gets for "easy" variations of the classic square could also go towards awesome versions of the square, like the Titanium G (which does nothing over the regular metal G's, which also has an all resin version, btw) which won't make Casio nearly as much cash.

I'll probably just pick up the bezel/strap for my own GW-M5610 when they become available.
