New Stormtrooper Mod: GW-7900B with GR-7900 band & Bezel

A while back, I had a GW-7900B and was really impressed with it. The wrist wings make it very comfortable, it's light, the negative display is very readable, and with atomic solar, even at a retail of $150 is a great deal. Who remembers why, but I sold it. But in the mean time, I've been thinking of this mod (will be my first ever) for a while and just picked up a nice GW-7900B off of the sales forum.

I plan on putting some white parts from a GR-7900EW and am about to order the spare parts from the white GR-7900EW from Casio. I wanted to not only see if the g-shocker's approve, but also anything I'm not thinking of. I was thinking of the screws from the Rising Red GW-7900, but they look like cheap plastic, so I was going to get the same screws from the GR-7900. Am I missing anything?

Not a bad looking G. No tidegraph or the wrist wings. I can do my mod for $100 less. Plus it's very unique!

As you can see, I'm more of a fan of the 'stealth' look, but, I'm guessing that if you dropped a bit of white enamel paint on the bezel rivets, it would really make the black/white theme pop...

Neil, Sounds like a good idea and I bet it will look great. From everything I've read about the GW7900, I think you might actually be better off using the "screws" from the G7900. The metal ones on the atomic versions certainly look better, but it seems that they fall out easily. I see on StephenWatch's 7900 above he replaced the metal screws with the plastic ones. If you're planning to use the white resin (bezel and straps) from the EW and the module from the 7900B, the black plastic "screws" would actually compliment the look very well. I look forward to seeing your completed mod!

Thanks for the pics and the ideas. You may be right about the using the plastic screws/rivets....and I do think they look great on the all stealth of Stephen's above....I guess I could put some enamel on the black metal bits too. I was planning on ordering another set of screws either to make an all stealth version of the black band, bezel, or so I could sell the black set. I'll have to mull that over. Wish I was better at photoshop!

I've come up with a new problem though: The wrist wings. I don't know if they come with the band and if they don't, I can't seem to figure out what they are called! here's a link to pacparts for the GR-7900EW:

Consumer Electronic Parts and Accessories at PacParts, Inc.

I don't see them listed. I was probably going to go through Casio anyway, so I can hopefully find out from them on Monday.

Just a quick one - they definitely don't come with the band - I've ordered a replacement band in the past, and all you get is the strap, no wings...
