New strap or just strap retainer?

Just picked up a nice DW-8140 (1995 vintage) in great shape. After wearing it for a few hours, the strap retainer fell apart into 4 pieces. The strap itself is very good. Hate to shell out $20 for a whole new strap. Anybody know where I can get just the retainer?

    Thanks,

    George

    Welcome to the forum.

Try calling Casio directly in your country, or casiosalesandservice. I know they are sold separately because I saw them the other day.

    Welcome to the forum.

Vintage parts might be tough to find for that model. Another option might be to make your own strap holder. There was a post the other day where someone used a black rubber O-ring. It looked to do the job very well. You could make one out of metal with a little work. It might even look better than the original if you're handy.

Thanks for the tip. I called Casiosalesand serviceand they don't sell the retainer separately...have to buy the whole strap for $19 plus shipping. I'll have to keep looking.

    Hi,

Thanks for the tips...a couple of good ideas. Although I'm going to keep my eyes open for the original type part. Casiosalesand service doesn't sell the strap retainer separately.

    :thanks

Buy a Casio knock off strap at Wal Mart, pull off the retainer, put it on you strap, save the WM one for parts.

I did this with my 6900 when I had the same problem, worked great until the rest of the 6900's strap wore out.
