New user - problems with GWM5600-1ER synchronising

    Dear All,

New user and member here - great website - I've already purchased the GWM5600-1ER and GWM5525A-1.

    I'm having a problem with the GWM5600.

For the first two weeks it synchronised with the atomic clock perfectly - and regularly at 02:00 every night.

This was in any situation, whether on my bedside table, or even whilst wearing on my wrist in living room when up late!

However, over the past week it seems to have all but stopped synchronising. In the last four days it has only done so once - at 04:00.

Has anyone else had similar experience?

Should I return watch for replacement?

    Really appreciate your thoughts.

    Best Regards,
    Russell.

Syncing is affected by location and weather conditions. It may be that your local conditions have changed. Whereabouts are you located?

    Yes, welcome to the forum.

As Tribe said sync ability can be affected by weather. Actually, if I understand correctly, it is more affected by the sun. So time of year will also have an impact. That said, if you are quite some distance from the transmitter it is possible that conditions have changed just enough that your normal location is no longer sufficient.

We need more info to be of more assistance.

Are you in England? (Wolves fan?)

I also found this with my M5600 and like Tribe and Shadow say it's definitely weather related. Overcast conditions give you more chance of getting a sync but I found that if you leave the watch "face up" rather than on its side it tends to sync more reliably in all conditions. In fact I rarely get a sync if I leave it on its side.

Re: New user - problems with GWM5600-1ER synchronising

    Hello,

I'm in Wolverhampton in England. have had no probs synching regardless of watch position or location - always at 02:00.

I've also receievd my GW5525A 25th anniversary today. I bought it because the buttons looked easier to use than the 5600 - BUT they are so stiff as to be practically unusable. I really have to apply pressure and dig them in - would not work one handed in my wrist.

Do these buttons ease up over time or should they be easy to use from new?

    Thanks for your help!

    Best Regards,
    Russell.

    Hi Russel,

I love the GW-5525A. THe buttons get easier to push over time. Actually the real buttons are covered by the bezel. Casio uses a special procedure to mold a bezel with stiff and soft parts. This structure is made to keep mud and dirt out of the watch. It is a re-issue of the 1985 DW-5500C, which was the first (Mud Resist) Mudman.

    Welcome to the G-Shock forum,

You should get a decent signal in Woverhampton, so I'm at a loss to explain the problem you're having. If it doesn't improve in the next week or two, it may be worth seeking a warranty repair.

I went to Molyneux once, but it was a long time ago - maybe 1977...

take off the bezel and cook it, like we cook the resin bands, there are more details in the how to section.
i did the same to my mudman, and now the buttons are easy to press. i didnt like it in the beginning, and it didnt get less stiff after some time, i dont wanna wait 5 years, cook it!

Thanks for info guys. I love these watches.

I've just boiled up some water but have decided to leave 5525A as-is.

Going to have a nice cup of tea instead.

    up the wolves
