Newbie looking for a new G-Shock (most likely a 5600)

I had a Casio DW5600E-1V for two years, but recently lost it, and now I am in the market for a new watch. I did some looking on this forum, but the vast amount of information was almost intimidating!
I'm most likely going to end up buying a 5600, unless there is something out there that is similar but better in some way. I noticed that the DW5600E-1V is on sale on Amazon for a great price right now ($30). I also saw that they have the GW5600J-1 for a little over $60. Is it worth the increase in price?

I looked at the 5600 models compared thread, but in the end I was confused.

    https://forums.watchuseek.com/showthread.php?t=65908

What 5600 model should I buy? There seem to be so many different models that are so damn similar I don't know how to pick from the bunch.

Sorry for acting like such a newb, and thanks for the help.

Welcome Gshocker as you might already know there is no one correct answer all are good. as far as the GW 5600 being worth the extra, to me I say yes no question. not sure where you are but if you are in the states some jc pennys have the GW 5525 limited 25 anniversary for about 50. bucks with tax. its on closeout but the next best buy might just be the GW 5600 for 60.

honestly, when choosing a g-shock, just find the one that you like the most as in the looks and the functions. you can't really go wrong with a g-shock... unless it's that blinged out g-shock with crystals all over the bezel... that's just no cool at all, at ever!!!

is it just me or are there a bunch of people these days looking for a 5600? i swear i think i read like 4 threads about people wanting to get one.

Thanks for the quick replies! The GW5600 on Amazon doesn't display the day of the week does it? That is an important feature in my opinion, and if it doesn't have it I think I'll go with old trusty the DW5600.

I think the 5600's just grow on you. there is not a lot of crystal protection but they are light and usually good prices

gshocker you could move up the the riseman that displays day date and for some reason year. plus atomic 6 band, solar, altimeter, barometer and tempeture for about 150

if you want the date and day and the time on the same display, you need the GW-M5600

The 5600 series is still the G with the most usefull features in a no-nonsense design.
The GW5600 is the only one from the series which is not showing the day.

If you like a slighly fancier 5600 also look at the GLX-5600!

    I agree

However, even if you aren't concerned about whether the day and date are disaplayed in timekeeping mode, you still need the GW-M5600! The GW-5600 is a nice watch, but doesn't have the classic look of the GW-M.

Thanks again for the replies. I saw the GW-M5600 for sale on Ebay for a little unde $100 shipping included. Is this the best price for this watch? It seems like a good deal since the retail is $200. Also, is the version for sale on Ebay the U.S. version?

Yes this is the best deal right now, I was looking for this watch at a reasonable price for months, I was one of a couple WUS'ers who bought that watch from that ebayer yesterday. Also, here is a thread discussing the 5600 series, if you decide to go that route:
