    Next watch

I just purchased the DW 5600E and now I need another watch. Iím torn between the GW5610 or the Rangeman 9400. How well do the ABC funtions work on the Rangeman? If itís high maintenance then the 5610 it is. Thanks

Iíd say get the Rangeman, instead of another square for variety. Although I do get the appeal of square G-Shocks. I myself have 4 Dw-5600ís and 1 GMW-B5000, but still feel that I need others as well. Thus I also own the Rangeman, Mudman and Frogman, one each. You just canít get enough with G-Shock

No, I do like it. I just feel like I need another one for some reason. In addition, I sprayed it with OFF mosquito repellant and messed up the resin a bit. So I want another shot at a clean watch.

Iím definitely leaning Rangeman for a different look and set of features like you said. Iím just going to end up with both of them in the end anyway lol!

The ABC functions of the Rangeman work well for me. Just keep in mind that with any barometric altimeter it's necessary to calibrate the altitude regularly to keep it accurate. This is because it uses pressure changes to determine altitude changes, and it doesn't know whether the pressure changed due to actual altitude changes or due to weather changes.

I think the basic black, positive display GW-9400-1 is probably the best and most fully featured G-Shock for under $200. The button design (knurled metal buttons in protective sleeves) is a cut above that used on cheaper Gs. If you can handle the size -- it's much larger than a square -- I'd say give it a try. Stay away from the olive, negative display GW-9400-3 if you want to easily be able to read the display.

Get the standard positive display 9400 Rangeman.

    That Rangeman does sound great.

On your 5600, Is the strap messed up, or just the bezel? Replacement bezels are only a few bucks. I would look for a black bezel with different lettering, so that it still looks cohesive but becomes more unique. Is it the DW-5600E-1V (basic black)? If so, this bezel might be fun: http://www.pacparts.com/model.cfm?mf...tion=list_part

I have both a 5610 and a 9400. If your just getting into Gshocks I second the 9400 Rangeman recommendation. Watch the Watchgeek videos on using the watch. They are great and he is a member here. Your gonna be getting more gshocks if you hang around here long and my 5610 is my "coolest" looking G so I recommend it highly also!!! Both of your proposed next watch choices have Multiband6 and tough solar, two really great features. The MB6 alone is awesome!
