    Not strictly G-Shock, but... (DW-340 300m)

... does anyone call one of these (Casio DW-340 300m, dorky diver) their own and care to comment?

You can see one on http://hometown.aol.de/vintagelcdwatch/sonstige16.html

    Thanks for any opinions

    Hello bughammer,The DW-340 its a great w.watch of Casio.

The case is similar a G-Shock case. The difference is that it does not have bezel. It is a very resistant watch to pressures and blows also. The resistance to the water is equal to the one of its brothers(200m.).I think .

The image of the watch is retro.Old vintage retro look...
    I like this models DWs.

Wow Adan, thank you for your comprehensive reply. It would seem the DW-340 came in different grades of water resistance (200m? 300m?). Not quite sure which one I just won...

Largely irrelevant for me as a non-swimmer, if my wrist was just 1m underwater I'd be in trouble

I like the chunky looks though. Great pics Adan!

The DW-340 arrived yesterday. Apologies for the "quick and dirty" cellphone pics...

Heck it's big - 46mm wide (if you include those nice big buttons it's 48mm), but not quite 14mm thick. A flounder.

The case and strap construction are simpler than a G-Shocks, and not quite as comfortable.
A pleasant surprise was the 1000 module - pretty good for its time with dual time, countdown timer and REM function. Plus of course the ubiquitous "lightbulb" backlight. The LCD is gold toned.

Here's a back view. As an old "Alien" fan it reminds me a bit of the Facehugger!

    All the best

    Hi Kevin,

Looks like a nice non-G, model. The big buttons are very funny. My DW-400 has also those BIG butons. I think you DW-340 can take a bigger blow than this model.

    Cheers,

    Sjors
