Off topic :OFF TOPIC: Do any of you guys own 5.11 Tactical Watches?

Just wondering if any of you own 5.11 Tactical Watches and if so what do you think of them? I own all 3 colors Black/Cyote Brown/Olive Drab and I really like them alot, they do have alot of features that I don't use too often but for the most part I use several of the features mainly the compass as it's very accurate and these are some really tough watches.

I don't know anything about them, but that one looks nice. The word "tactical" kind of puts me off. The watch has a bit of a Suunto look to it.

Yup - couldn't buy anything with the word 'tactical' as part of the name, but that one is understated and purposeful.
I used to list my watches here until I realised it ruined people's Google searches...

Re: :OFF TOPIC: Do any of you guys own 5.11 Tactical Watches?

A couple month ago, I saw the watch from the picture above on the wrist of a US soldier. He was the driver of the Humvee I was riding in and a Sergeant of a supply unit. When I asked him about the watch, he proudly showed it to me and said "this is a special forces watch, serious stuff" . I had a hard time not to laughing out loud, as you might can imagine

However, I must say that the greenish neg. display looks extremely cool and is very legible. The watch looks much better in the flesh than on any stock photo (which we all know this too well from casio watches).

    Mr. G-shock,

could you post some pictures of yours? I would love to see how the other colours come across for real.

    cheers

This one is a little different as one of the watches primary features is a ballistic calculator, they are very understated and purposeful when viewed in real life, nor do they have "Tactical" splashed all over the place, far from it. I would consider one myself, however I have no need of the calculator these days and would miss some other ABC features. The 5.11 Tactical can also be tricky to source outside of the US, and I know some companies will not ship them out of CONUS due to the inclusion of the ballistic calculator.

This is one of the very few watches with a military/security forces tie in that is actually valid and not some marketing nonsense. They are also popular with some serving for obvious reasons, and the units tend to be a little bit specialised...

The watch is now named "Field Ops Watch" (New Design) Description:

    High-density polycarbonate frame
    SureShot® ballistic calculator
    Polyurethane wrist band
    Digital compass
    Digital readouts
    Omni-directional bezel
    Backlight
    Water resistant to 100 meters
Optional extended band for wearing the watch over gloves or clothing
Day, date, 2nd time zone, alarm, chronograph, countdown timer, hourly chime
Countdown timer features an audible tone every minute
    Two year warranty

Have to admit, I think I like those. No need for a ballistic calculator though, although I would love to have a car with a built in rocket launcher.

I'll try to get some wrist shots and outside shots of them this weekend if I have time.

It doesn't have the word Tacttical on the watch anywhere, that's just the name of the company and the watch is called the Field Ops watch.

I love mine and like I said the compass is spot on and the other features work great, the watch is very easy to read in any light conditions and it's crazy tough too. I have only used the ballistic calculator one time on each watch just to test it out and it does work like it's supposed to. I like these watches for camping/hiking/hunting as they are perfect for it. and lol at rocket launcher hehe

Looks like those wear pretty big! I'm really starting to like 'em though. Love the displays.
