Question Old MRG digital watches - CR1620 instead of CR1616?

I needed to change the battery in an MRG-220, and ordered some CR1616 cells... only the idiot seller sent me CR1620 cells! Same diameter cell, but thicker (2mm vs 1.6mm).

If memory serves me, I remember there were some models where a G-Shock can accept a slightly different battery thickness. But in the case of a screwback, I worry about it possibly crushing the module if the margin is too slight.

Has anyone here successfully used a CR1620 in an older MRG digital watch, with no lasting problems?

Better safe than sorry! Especially for a classic watch that's hard to replace. Demand refund and get the right type of battery.

Yes, that's why I posted (rather than trying it myself blindly). I haven't heard back from the seller yet (one of those multi-thousand item sellers who needs several days to reply), so I don't know if they'll just send a replacement set of batteries or if I have to mail back the incorrect batteries. If I end up with the CR1620 cells still in my possession, I figured it would be good to know if I could use them in a CR1616 application... or just resell.
