OT: Alba Spoon Titanium just arrived. Let's see if I do wear it

    Hi

I've just got my first non-Casio watch in a looong time.

It's an used Alba Spoon titanium. Really cool and confortable, although the negative display is so bad that you MUST always press the light button to see the time.

However, its red lume looks fantastic.

Here's some wrist shoots I just took:

I must admit I barely wear the last non-Casio watch that I purchased. It was a Citizen ana-digi that I really like, but...

You know, each morning, when I browse through my watches to make a choice, there's always a DW-6900 or another G-Shock that gets preference.

You can't beat G's, do you?

So let's see if I do wear this one.

    Cheers,

    G.

Cool, I remember those. How thick is it?

The Search function on vBulletin forums isn't very smart. If you want to search for a complete string in the G-Shock forum, or for posts which include multiple words, use Google, and enter site:forums.watchuseek.com/f17 into the search box. Then use normal google syntax after that to enter your search.

Congrats on a great find! The Spoon has a very retro look about it and what you say about the red LCD display makes it very similar to those vintage red LED digital watches don't you think. I've a couple of these and the titanium case and bracelet make them very light thus comfortable on the wrist. Here's a pic of mine:

Maine, the watches are approx. 16mm at the thickest.

Maine, here goes a comparison shot with a DW-6900.

    Cheers,

Nice futuristic-reto Design ;) Could be a watch from the movie BladeRunner.

The one next to the yellow G-Shock: Is the battery empty? Just can't see anything.
    My watches:
    Sinn 104 St Sa A | Casio CBX-1000 | Casio WV-M120 | Junghans Mega1 | Junghans Olympic

As I said, the watch is cool but it has the worst negative display ever. Its green numbers are barely visible unless you switch on the light. Fortunately, it has an auto light function that activates when you press any button.

Slee, do you know if there is a chime function? If there is, I haven't been able to find it. I don't own the manual and can't find it online...

    Thanx in advance,

    G.

I have about 80 watches, including just one G-Shock. That G-Shock, a GW-5600J, ends up on my wrist about half of the week.

I don't think the intention was to be able to read it without activating the light function. It was an interpretation of the original Pulsar LEDs.

Very cool! I love watches with a red LED readout. I wish Casio made a G-Shock like that! I've researched LED watches and they all seem pretty expensive.
