OT(?):where can I find G-shocks and a nice modest hotel in rome?

I'll be in Rome in a few days, and would love to see some modern art (G-shocks that is ) and stay in a nice place in the center of the city.

    Many thanks for any help,
    Galpo.

I haven't stayed in this place yet, but I have booked it for a few days' stay soon. It looks average price, and the location is very central - couple of minutes south of the Pantheon and just north of Tiber Island.

Hi I just went a to rome a month or so ago. There were some shops that sold G-shocks, on one of their main shopping streets called "Via del Corso". It's the street that leads directly piazza venezia to piazza del poppolo. That should help you navigate to it.

As for a hotel. Rome is littered with cheap but fairly decent hotels.

Have a good trip mate. Rome is an astounding jawbreaker of a place when visiting for the first time. Especially if you're a history buff as I am :)

Why not pick up a guidebook. Check out the Rough Guides or Lonely Planet (maybe - I've never used LP for Europe). When I was in Rome many years ago I just walked around until I found a place, pretty much my usual method in any new city, though it's not the way for everyone. I'd imagine that once you find the large shopping center area you'll see a store or two selling G-Shocks.

The last time I stayed in Rome, a year ago, we stayed in the hotel Continentale, near the Termini station in the centre. It is in an area with several very affordable restaurants (you'll find many backpackers there) and since Rome its historical centre is very compact, most tourist attractions are nearby.

It is a simple budget hotel, nothing fancy, but clean and the people are friendly.

Don't know about G-Shock stores in Rome though, but I'm sure you'll have some fun there. It's a great city.
