Based on my own (Android) experiences, a waste of time and battery. Much prefer MB6.

    GPR-B1000.

I’ve used BT to set world time to a city the watch can’t access on it’s own.

I’ve played with the BT for navigation a lot, but it has never been for a real purpose besides familiarization.

Absolutely love the Bluetooth capability, five of my BT watches have the hourly signal on and I get off on hearing them all chime in perfect unison. I also find fiddling with my watches via BT to be calming after a day in the salt mines e.g. checking the charge state on an MT-G (GF says a dram of whiskey with a splash of water is simpler).

Since I am far from the transmitter, in certain weather they don’t easily sync, so I sometimes use the Clock Wave app to update atomic Gs

Lesse, how many BT watches do I have? Two BT squares, plus my GPR Ranger and my MTG-B1000. (And a Kobe BT square incoming) I keep ALL of my watches paired with the app, all the time. And the app is always running on my phone.

I love it!! My squares nearly always say “Rcvd” on the screen, and this is usually from automatic BT connections. My GPR Ranger seems to get regular sync updates too with zero action by me. No noticeable impact on phone battery life from BT, whatsoever. (IOS)

The only ‘issue’ that I sometimes notice is on my squares, when I try to do a quick time adjustment via BT (via the short button press of the lower-right pusher), it does not always work, even though the phone is nearby. Not sure why this is. In those cases, I will just sync the watch quickly with the app, which DOES do the time sync update, and then remove the connection to the app almost immediately. This gives me the desired sync very quickly.

I don’t use the functions of the app much. Mainly to check battery life on my squares and MTG. And to set world time. Nice that they are there though if I want them. In general I’m a big fan of these BT watches!! They give some “smart” connectivity while stopping short of being full-blown smartwatches.

Re: Poll: G-Shock Bluetooth Owners Actual Bluetooth Usage

I have about a dozen Casio BT watches, ranging from a $120 square to a $1,500 Oceanus. All of them regularly sync to my phone without issue. It's not quite as predictable as MB6 syncing every night a little past midnight, but it's nice to have the back-up on those days that MB6 is obstructed due to weather or whatever else. Not that I'm obsessed with having pinpoint accurate time 24/7, which is frankly a silly fixation specific to G-SHOCK fanatics. Some of my favorite pieces are vintage models that sync to nothing but my wrist.
"When the shadow of the sash appeared in the curtains it was between seven and eight o'clock and then I was in time again, hearing the watch. It was Grandfather's and when Father gave it to me he said I give you the mausoleum of all hope and desire.... I give it to you not that you may remember time, but that you might forget it now and then for a moment and not spend all your breath trying to conquer it."
