Potential Project to Transfer G5600 to DW5030 Metal Case

I'm being offered a DW 5030 metal case with screw back.

I'm wondering if it is possible to trans-plant my G5600 into this metal case.

The concerns I have are :-
    1. No spacers are provided. Can the G5600 spacer be re-used ?

    2. No O-ring. but I have spares.

    3. Can the G5600 module fit nicely ?

    4. The G5600 is a tough solar, but the DW 5030 is not. Will solar charging still works ?

    Any expert advice ?

You would have to get the solar panel out of the G-5600, which I doubt is going to happen without breaking it!

Apart from that, what exact model is your G-5600?

There were 2 or 3 G-5600 models. The "1" which I have, (pic from Google below), while being a square, has a different shaped case back so the module is possibly a different shape to normal 5600's?

    I'll give it a "No".

So because of the Solar Panel, the G5600 is a no go, What about DW5600 ? Will this fit ?

Pretty tight but 3229 module from DW-5600 will fit in 5030 case

If it's going to mean using a standard battery and foregoing a solar panel implant, I'd like to suggest not doing it. the 5030 module shows the time in all modes, save the alarm mode, so you wouldn't be gaining much except for slightly larger numerals :(

    for me, it is impossible

a perfect module fit, would make all the 4 buttons operational, which I don't think so

and forget about the solar panel, which requires a transplant of the glasses, even if it fits, we still have to worry about waterproof issue

I have done a few dw-5600 transfer from the plastic to metal case, though

Won't work, the DW-5XXX series has a smaller viewing window for the LCD, the rest is metal. Change of glass will still block the solar panels.

But for giggles, here is a G5600B module in a DW-5030 style case.

I did test my G5600B module in my GW-M5610 case, it fit perfectly and the hidden menu said it was charging with the M5610's solar panel. To me that implies that the G5600 series (the 2nd revision at least) would fit in a GW-5000 case.

If the metal frame is the only obstacle, you can grind it away easily enough with a dremel.

The buttons are further apart on the G5600. It's a fruitless endeavor. Better bet would be to get a GW5000, pop that module out, swap the plastic spacers and pop this in.

Speaking of, it's been a while since I've been on pacparts, and I checked a few watches the other day, and they only list the most basic or parts for my GW5000 and other Casio watches. Is this a permanent thing?
