i have read numerous reviews saying that the buttons on it peel off after a while.. Making the watch not so attractive. Thoughts ?

I have never read any button covers coming off They are the stiffest buttons on any G I own. The GW5525 has the second stiffest buttons in my collection. I have worn my Muddy for all sorts of things for over a year no problems at all I am the second owner thanks to the sales forum

It's news to me. Where are these numerous reviews?
I used to list my watches here until I realised it ruined people's Google searches...

Can you link to the reviews ?

I can't see how the button covers would 'peel off'.

I've read about that only once in an ebay description of a vintage Mudman DW-8400. Never heard of it happening to a G-9000/GW-9000 or GW-9010. So far 'resin rot' is an unsolved (probably unsolveable) problem on all G-Shocks. The resin just gets brittle over time - but you probably won't have to worry about it for 10-15 years or even more - depending on the use of the watch of course.

Mostly on amazon on the mudman reviews, and in a lot of other G-Shock models reviews claming " this model, unlike the Mudman, doesn't peel off" etc

It's good to know thats not a real epidemic though.

Wonder if any of those were because of boiling to soften the buttons up?

well, amazon reviews are certainly good for a laugh - now and then. and don't take them too seriously, lots of them are as reliable as the weather in april....

Or if those were describing counterfeit Mudman watches, not genuine ones...
