    Question about GW9400-3 negative display

I've read several threads about the readability of the negative display on the GW9400-3. I have a few negative display Suunto watches (Vector and X-Lander) and I was wondering if anyone can tell me how they compare to that of the GW9400-3. I've gotten used to my negative display Suuntos and I don't find them particularly difficult to read (except of course in very low light settings) - is the GW9400-3 display similar or dimmer ?

    Thanks

i would say probably dimmer, seeing as the suunto digits are bigger and have more contrast.

I'll agree with this, even without owning a Suunto. I finally flipped mine over to a positive display and I am liking it even more.

Another issue common with G-Shocks is viewing angle of negative display, but I hear they are working on that. Some people find their way around this by doing a "hydro mod" to theirs. This makes the screen much more clear and gives you more viewing angle. (You can easily find examples all over this forum of it, haha)

Re: Question about GW9400-3 negative display

I took a look at the GD-100 with negative display recently. Does anyone know if the GW9400-3 negative display contrast/readability is essentially the same (haven't seen the GW9400-3 in-store anywhere to compare)

    thanks

No, the Rangeman negative is a goldish tan digits on black background, the gd-100 is silver on black. GD-100 has better contrast.

Re: Question about GW9400-3 negative display

I bought this one because it looked neat but the Negative Display is not really easy to read most times. If you are outside in sunlight or indirect outdoor light not bad because of the gold numbers. Indoors with office lighting or home lighting you can barely see it looking directly at it. The back light is the only way to really see the screen which eats up the battery. Need to see about modding it to a positive display or just selling it since I really don't wear it much.
