    Question regarding CASIO GW5600BCJ-1

    Hello all-

This will be my first digital watch in roughly a decade. I'm pretty excited about purchasing one.

I like the old style rectangular models and this one seems very nice and not too expensive.

Features that attracted me to it are the atomic timekeeping and solar power. I also really like the negative display. I've read some criticism of it, but I think I can probably live with it. I dont mind tilting my wrist to read the time. I did go to a few stores to see if they had a negative display model for me to look at, but no such luck. Also, I like the relatively small size. Some of the larger G-Shock models look a bit silly on my 6.5" wrist (or at least I think so).

It seems like I have babbled a bit, so ....Anyways, on to my question. I see that this model comes with a metal and resin composite bracelet. In the past, I have found resin straps to be fairly stiff and uncomfortable. Are these bracelets more or less comfortable than a resin strap? I know this is a very subjective question, but I would greatly appreciate your opinions.

    Hi Strongmace,

I have a GWM5600BC-1JF and it has the same bracelet as the one you like. Let me tell you that in my opinion this is the best bracelet I have ever worn. It is very easy to adjust. Once worn, you'll hardly notice it.

i have that watch, and the band is very comfortable and easy to adjust (but the metal part seems to scratch easily). but you might want to look at the GWM5600BC-1JF that vintage mentioned; its got a couple more features including date/date and mulitband 5.

Thanks guys. I'm going to shop around a bit. The model that was linked above to Amazon is the larger version it seems. It is listed at 49mm, but there is another on Amazon at 42mm which is the one I am interested in.

Those photos of the bracelet really helped. I'm definitely going to get this watch.

Eh? Two versions, different sizes? Are you sure the dealers are quoting the right size?

    Could be that they arent.

I did email the one that is listed as 42mm to confirm and they said "The watch is approximately 43mm in diameter." So at least that one should be right I guess....

Remember that these watches don't have a diameter, they have a height and a width - maybe that is the discrepancy you are seeing.

Could be. Maybe they measured it across the diagonal to get 49mm?

At any rate, I think the spec is 42mm width.
