Real Black Frogman fault - what's wrong?

I just sold my Real Black Frogman to a guy in Singapore who says it's faulty. He says that when he operates the light it comes on for a split second then the whole display goes blank for three seconds. What could be causing this? Could it be a low battery?

Sounds very much like a low battery prob to me. When was the last time it was changed?

    Yup - low battery.
I used to list my watches here until I realised it ruined people's Google searches...

Clear sign of a dead battery.

Yup, symptoms of a battery in need of a changing.

In case you weren't convinced by the legions of others, the watch indeed needs a new battery.

OK, thanks all. That's a relief - I was just a bit worried! I've not given it a new battery in the two years I've owned it. Before that Skyhook had it. It's eight years old - how long does the battery last if you don't use the light much?

It's lived in my drawer almost the entire time I've owned it. The funny thing is that the light was working fine when I took photos of it two weeks ago. It's rotten luck that the battery should die while the watch was being shipped.

How much do you think it will cost the new owner to replace the battery? He's in Singapore. Is it a job for a G-Shock dealer, or can anybody do it?

if he sends it to either of the official g-shock service centres, it will cost 15sgd for a battery change, which will include pressure testing for the watch.

a change at a watch shop in bencoolen will cost 6sgd.
