    Real talk G-shock

Why tf does Gshock still have their 'G-steel' line??? No one buys gshock watches for their style. People buy gshocks for their plastic/polyurethane feel and their shock resistancy. So whats the point with this pointless line?

I always like how a G-Shock could be picked up for cheap and it would never let me down. Endless beach and camping sessions never worrying about scratching or damaging them. I admit I have never given a look at anything in their metal line.

I suppose you could ask the guys in the g-shock forum. I'm sure they can break down the in-depth reasons why someone would.

You are close minded in your own opinion. If they are not selling the way Casio perceived, they will not remain in the lineup.
I have seen several G-Steel on folks wrist in different occasions.

    Re: Real talk G-shock

Of course people buy g-shock for their style. You going to tell me the kid purchases the bright red and blue G, or the black and gold, or whatever crazy colours is currently available is buying for its functions??? The G's function and toughness is primary to many who depend on a tough take any abuse style of watch. Keep in mind, after any collector has 2-3-4-5 or however many g-shocks, they are no longer buying them for the function anymore and then buying solely on styles. In most cases, why would a person need more than 1 G? After you have 2+, you purchased for it's style. Most G's do the same thing with some mild function changes in the module, look at the DW5600 and DW6900. Different designed case and module, same functions - Day, date, time, timer, countdown timer and alarm, EL. Same as the GW-M5610 and the GW6900... same thing, different look.

    I currently own the following:

    GW-M5610 (daily wear/beater - work and travel)
    GW6900 (daily wear/beater - work and travel)

    DW6900G (NIB)
    DW6900-1V (NIB)
    DW6900CB-1DR (NIB)
    DW6900E-1CS (NIB)
    GLX-150-1CR (NIB)
    GX-56-4DR (NIB)
    GX-56-GB (NIB)
    GR8900 (NIB)
    GR8900A (NIB)
    G8900-1DR

Of all of them, only the first 2 (GW6900 and GW-M5610) were purchased for the purpose of function, I needed multiple alarms and timezones for travelling. The solar and atomic were jazzy bonuses. Both of those models do exactly the same thing, but now they have become daily wearers for work and travel I find the GW6900 is too fat under my winter work coat, thus I purchased the GW-M5610 as it is much thinner and the work parka does not get caught when I am removing it.

ALL of the other 10 were purchased because of colour scheme, or the case shape.

So to answer the OP's question, that is why TF they make different series, models, lines, styles. Welcome to WUS.

    Re: Real talk G-shock

I work in a high school. I see just as many Gshocks as Apple watches.
Most of these kids aren't buying them because they need a tough watch, they actually think they look cool.
The G-steel watches offer an extra bit of finish and quality over the standard G and look "tough" - which is why people buy them.

Personally I prefer screw back squares, because they look cool AND because they are tough.

Wow, an expert finally steps forward and exposes the G-Shock farce and goes so indepth with concise, empirical evidence and pure facts, unbiased by personal opinion or total lack of knowing wtf they are talking about.
