Recent arrival and a review of the new GA-2000.

Here is a recent pickup the GA-2000E-4.

This is a recently released model and feature Casio’s latest innovation a Carbon Core Guard.

The case is carbon fibre case with a secondary resin caseback to protect the steel caseback. Casio reckons this allows them to do away with the curved strap and is able to have a flat lying strap whilst still maintaining full shock resistance, the improved strength of the case also allows the watch to have no button guards.

The watch has a nice basic module but with some very helpful features. The mode indicator is a rotating wheel which looks really neat in operation. It has 24 hour stopwatch and timers, which can be set to the second, a feature I know members like.

It has world time, the name of the city scrolls across the LCD before displaying the time and in timekeeping mode a single press of button B will temporarily bring up the name and time of the current WT city in the right hand LCD. You can switch times by a long press of the same button, very convenient. A single press of button A, temporarily displays the current ‘home’ city in the display. In timekeeping the LCD can show date, day or digital time.
It also has the usual five alarms and signal and not being solar, the alarms are of a decent volume.

The watch has a hand set procedure if they get out of sync. Also whilst adjusting time etc the hands move out of the way of the LCD’s, you can move them out of the way manually as well by a double press of the light button.

The button tone can be muted on the watch as well if you so desire.

There is lume on just the hands on this model, it is nice and strong though. The LED light is very good and the LCD’s also light up separately making it highly usable in the dark.

In a real innovation for G Shocks, Casio have also introduced quick change straps with this model, the conventional strap attachment allows this. This is a great feature you can change the strap out just using your fingernail, though it does come with a tool for changing the straps as well.

I have no doubt Casio will be issuing many different straps for this model. This GA-2000E is a limited edition model and comes with three straps as standard, red and blacks resin straps and a green fabric one. These straps all have individual quick change spring bars making changing them really quick and convenient. I have also obtained a leather strap for it and I think it looks great on on it. I went for white stitching to mirror the bright white hands, this strap also has the quick release spring bars

So I think this is a really great G Shock, it is well priced and has most things you need for a day to day watch and has the ability to give you a different look for very little extra money, you can also easily step outside of the Casio orbit for the straps as well, it is light to wear, it is a big watch but not like some of the giants Casio have been issuing, it is 48.7 mm wide and I think looks decent on the wrist.

So any thoughts on this innovative new model.

Only have one ani/digital myself only because it was cheap! Never been a major fan of them but this to me looks something I could really go for. Love the black with white hands and the overall design is low key but also pretty eye catching if that makes sense? The ease of strap changing is great also.
Anyway you got yourself a really cool piece there @Mitch100 enjoy.
Nearly forgot to say great photos and review

A lot to like, especially the case and clean dial. But an analog face with no second hand? Now that I think about it, second hands are my favorite part of watches!

I don't think so. However, I wouldn't think there would be any need with the very strong carbon fibre case.
