Here is a watch I have long wanted but have been waiting for one to show up at a decent price.
It is the GA-200SPR ‘Supra’ 30th anniversary model.
The GA-200 was not as popular as the GA-110 for some reason, a model it was designed to emulate Mind you, no G Shock is actually, the GA-110 is the best selling G Shock of all time amazingly.
The GA-200 has exactly the same functions as the 110. Fancy 100 hour 1/1000 stopwatch, lap timer and speed calculator with a speed dial, auto repeat 24 hour countdown timer, WT, alarms etc. It also has that strange feature Casio introduced with the GA-110, there is no button tone when moving between functions.
The 200 is slightly bigger than the 110 in line with the trend for Casio to keep introducing bigger and bigger G Shocks, it is indeed a big watch.
The 200 was slightly more ‘premium’ than the 110, utilising metal buttons and a metal bezel. However, it also shares the same obvious feature as the 110............. it is hard to tell the time at a glance on nearly all the models! The skeleton hands tend to get ‘lost’ against the coloured 3D dials.
The LED lume on these 200 and 110’s, is pretty hopeless as well, the amber light is weak doesn’t show the LCD’s and barely lights up the hands, which have no lume.
The Supra though, with its striking red hands set against a black ‘stealth’ dial, is really easy to see the time with at a glance, the hands really ’pop’. The red hands on the Supra also really stand out even in very low light obviating the poor lume to some degree.
The sub dials negative displays have very good contrast for a negative display but obviously need closer viewing to get the information provided. In timekeeping the left hand dial can show the date or the digital time as required, though the seconds are always on display.
The bottom dial is the ‘speed’ dial. has anyone here ever used this function in anger, rather than just checking it out to make sure it works, I can’t imagine many have ever used this function?
This Supra is in mint condition cannot have been worn much if at all. The box is a bit battered but the watch is mint. It has a Cordura strap, with a striking red inner liner. it has the ‘Supra’ logo on the case and strap keeper.
The watch is all black, black buttons, PVD SS buckle, case back etc, with just the striking red highlights to give it some impact, I think it is a very attractive design and that is why have been on the lookout for it for quite some time.
The case back is great it has clock design with the time set to 20.13 to match the 30th anniversary 2013 date. It also says ‘”It’s about time”, neat play on words!
So any thoughts on this one?
