Is recharging g-shock on car dash bad?

Has anyone had a bad experience or want to share any horror stories of leaving your tough solar g-shock on your car dash and coming back to a melted watch? I'm just curious but I do it all the time with mine. :thanks

    A few thoughts....

Excessive heat is very bad for LCD displays and rechargeable batteries...by leaving your watches out on the dash, I'm sure you are shortening their effective lives.

Direct sunlight can also be bad for LCD displays.

The heat could also affect or even melt some plastics and produce some fading on the watch as well.

Aren't there warnings in the instruction manuals about this stuff?

I wouldn't advise doing that. I keep my solars near a window at home but there is enough of a over hang so they are never directly in the sun. If it's watch that you don't wear all that often then maybe put it by a window before you plan on wearing it. If it's one that you wear most of the time you won't need to worry because it will get enough sun then.

    Hi Allanvalle,

It's not a good idea and not because of the sunlight. A car window will adsorb quiet a lot of light, like any window does. Our eye can't see the difference very good though. The main danger is the heat, developed between the front window and the dashboard. These temperatures can run up to dangerous hights. Considdering that rappid harge of the cell also developes heat, I think these effects together are pretty harmfull to a watch with resin parts.

    Cheers,

    Sjors

Heat also destroys the LCD panel and can damage internal circuits, pals

If you don't trust the manual, why don't you just try it?
