    Recommend me a Casio - Square shape/under 40mmx40m

    Hey guys

Can the experts here recommend me a Casio as my daily:

    - Square shape
    - Under 40x40 so something suitable for 6.5" wrist
    - Not too thick
    - Displays time, date, day, seconds
    - Backlight
    - Simple, maybe extra alarm or not really necessary

Is there anything else other then the F28W-1 that suits my description? I noticed it doesn't have a backlight and people do say the strap tends to break after about a year.

    Thanks in advance!

Have you tried out the dw5600 g-shock?

Yep I did notice that from my research but was a bit worried its rather large on a 6.5" wrist.

Curious to see what other options there are first

    Thanks!

Yes, there are lots of models. I would recommend a newer model since the older ones like the F28, F105 and F91 have straps that tend to break after a year or two, and many of the newer models seem to be better suited for replacement straps, such as an 18mm nylon strap.

There are quite a few newer square models in the same price range as those older ones. Two I have in front of me right now are the W-800H and the W-201. The 201 is smaller like the old models and the 800 is slightly larger. Many of these can be found at Walmart.

I also have a 6.5 inch wrist and the 5600 fits perfect

The problems with the DW5600 is that (1) the strap can break just as easily as any other, in spite of it's thickness. And when it does break it is difficult/costly to replace. (2) The case is thick, which the OP didn't want.

Personally, I don't think it would be too large for most wrists. But if a person prefers something smaller like the F28, it would not be a good choice.

As for the 5600e, I have worn it under a collared shirt with a suit and have no issues with thickness. And for the strap I wore mine everyday for like 3-4 years and nothing ever happened to it, but I only wore mine to things such as school, baseball, running nothing that would really do too much damage so your situation may be different. The strap is like $10 to replace and I don't feel its too much since the watch would probably last at least a decade no problem.

Here are others that may be of interest to you with your specs, some of them are more rectangle than square but I felt it was close enough

Here's two I like a lot, not as big as a DW5600 but a little bit larger than an F28W

W71 has a backlight (older style bulb type) Alarm, Stopwatch, CDT, Dual time zone, and shows time, day, date and seconds. It's slightly bigger than an F28W 38mm x 38mm x 8mm.

    W71

Then there's the W800 which has a backlight (older style bulb type) Alarm, Stopwatch, Dual time zone, and shows time, day, date and seconds. It's slightly bigger than the W71 at 40mm x 40mm x 12 mm. The only problem I have found with this one is the glass (plastic) sits proud of the surround and gets scratched really easy.
