    Refurbish a DW-8300 'Stargate'

    Hello

I bought a DW-5600E two moths ago and since I have been a G-Shock addict.:)
Two days ago I bought a DW-8300 in an auction. (It will arrive at the weekend).

I have a pair of questions about it:

Its keeper is missing. How could I put on a new keeper? Should I diassemble the strap or the buckle?(It has a resin strap.)

Obviously it's not a new watch, so should shold I worry about it's water resistance?

    Thank you

    G-Chronos

(Sorry for my grammar or spelling mistakes, my english is not so good, I think...)

Hi and welcome g-chronos, to fit a new keeper normally you will have to take off the buckle as the end which connects to the module is usually too wide for the keeper.
It is advisable to lube up the gasket with silicone grease before submerging it.
    Real men don't need instructions.

    Thanks!

Unfortunately, I haven't seen the watch yet, just in photos. But I will post my own photos when I get it.

    Till then:

Question Re: Refurbish a DW-8300 'Stargate'

I am looking for a technical specification of the watch, but I could find it nowhere.
What type of battery does it use?

Won't it tell you in the manual?

This is the problem. Unfortunately I have no manual. I bought the watch in an auction. It will arrive at the weekend and it hasn't got a box and manual.

    Google says #1288.

    Here's the manual: http://ftp.casio.co.jp/pub/world_man.../en/qw1288.pdf

Doesn't seem to list the battery number. You could always take the battery out and take it to a jewellers or electronics shop (surely it should say the battery number on the battery?).

DW-8300 takes a 2016 battery. About the band keeper - biggest challenge will be to find a replacement wide enought to fit. Putting it on is easy; the buckle is held in place with a springbar and simple to remove.
