Replacing the mineral crystal with sapphire on PRW-3000-1A

Has anyone actually done this and if so are there any guides/tips? I have searched but I cannot find any videos out there as of yet. I am tempted to buy a bit of a beat-up PRW-3000 to use as a test piece to disassemble and see how everything comes apart. I have a watch shop locally that will sell me a custom size sapphire crystal for $18.00, so I am on the fence whether to try to replace the one in my PRW-3000-1A, or just have them cut the exact size to go on top of my existing mineral crystal and secure it with optical UV glue. There is a bit of a recess that the bezel makes (appears to be less than 1mm so I will have to get a really good measurement) that a sapphire crystal could just fit into and be done with it, providing a little bit more protection and scratch resistance.

    Thoughts?

If just glue it on top, might as well just buy a screen protector instead. I’ve had those and you barely notice it. Much easier.
