    Restoration DBC-61

I would like to restore my 26 year old DBC-61 in its former glory.

    What needs to be done?
    - new battery
    - new strap
    - new keyboard

The first 2 items are really easy to accomplish: just buy and install.
The keyboard however... that's something different!
Found a site where someone designed the keyboard on his pc, printed it on piece of plastic and pasted it on his watch. It looked good and it worked flawlesly.
Now I was wondering: what kind of plastic can I use to print a keyboard? It should be thin enough to manipulate the buttons beneath, but not to thin either so that the buttons can not be seen or felt...

This is the watch in its current state...

I have been looking for donor watches, but the cheap ones mostly have crappy keyboards as well and the ones in good condition I don't want to 'ruin' to save mine...

    Suggestions are welcome!

You can probably find sheets of mylar or plastic film at a hobby store; I'm not sure if you're in the US, but Hobby Lobby has such sheets. A shop that sells supplies for model making or remote control vehicles would probably have something you can use.

Since it is not a rare model, you can buy a mint condition model on ebay and just transplant your module in the ebay watch. That way it will still have the brains of your original, just a better condition body.

I'm not in the US, I actually live in Belgium, Europe.
Will look for a hobby store here. Thank you for the tip.

I have been searching a lot on eBay for a DBC-61, but they don't turn up that often... I thought they were rather rare... Other variants are more common, but the keyboards aren't the same. The only one I could use (as far as I know), is the DBC-610, which seems to be a more recent release of the DBC-61.

Thank you for thinking with me and searching, but the DBC-60 has a different keyboard than the DBC-61... :(

Sorry mate, tought it was Just the colors use in the glass, but check Spain, they have a lot of sellers that sell this kind off parts for vintage Casios, great market for that.

I owned one of these, or a similar model from the DBC series, the keyboards were notoriously brittle, mine also fell apart.

I have to agree with Kung, however having bought a few NOS Casio cases for rare models myself, I'd say with a little patience there is a good chance you'll find someone selling just what you need - a NOS case.

Still no luck in finding an affordable case with a good keyboard for my DBC-61, so in preparation of creating my own keyboard, I already made the design for it :)
