    Restoring question g541d

Recently picked up an old beat up g541d for personal use.

Is there a way to paint the metal bezel parts on these with an automotive paint (like the kind used for rim touch up)? I know painting the resin doesn’t seem to last long.

Wanted to see if anyone tried that and see how much/quickly it chips off?

    Thanks

you can if you ditch the rattle can and go with an airbrush with thin layers, otherwise youll lose all the fine details. if you prep and coat properly, the resin bits (that grey paint comes off easy with some acetone) will hold up since theyre not in a high flex/friction area like if it was a band. i wouldnt go completely over those bits ie. the parts underneath that touch your skin. as far as candidates go, this is prob one of the better options for you to try it on, at the very worse, you could always just strip the paint off if you make a complete mess of it. good luck and remember to post your results

way too thick and the quality of the paint can be hit and miss, theyre also usually a very glossy finish. might as well spend a couple bucks on model kit paint instead of raiding your missus makeup case lol also not too sure how many guys have partners that wear matte black, aluminium or gun metal coloured nail polish lol

You could also try electroplating. It’s a bit...involved...from what I understand, but hobby/DIY kits are available. Custom chrome G541!!

That would look sweet... I'll start small and take off the paint if it looks awful..
