The GW-9200-1JF is the Japan model with the flying squirrel on the case back, and is atomic/solar. The G9200-1DR is the standard non-Japan model with the dragon caseback. This model is non-atomic, non-solar, but is available with those features at the GW9200-1.

That one you're on your own with... I have the GW9200-1 and couldn't be happier with it, but I guess the GW9200-1JF is more collectible. Depends on your desire to take it off and show everyone your flying squirrel, and then explain why it's special (to everyone except those here, of course). Overall, it just depends on what's important to you in regards to collectibility.

Take note that the Japanese version does not measure in Standard, only Metric.

AFAIK it's non-atomic BUT it is solar.

    thx for all clarifications

I think i'll just go with US version.

GW-9200-1JF is almost double the price.

    Re: riseman

I am looking at a GW-9200MBJ-1JF on ebay, and in response to reading about someone who just bought one and said it only measured in metrics, I asked the buyer about this specific watch. They told me it measured altitude in feet and temperature in Fahrenheit. But now I see this thread too. Here is the link to the watch:

So is that a Japanese version that only does metrics or not? I need the good old goofy american system or it isn't gonna help me much.

I have the GW with the flying dragon on the rear. It allows you to change between Farenheit or celcius so I would argue its the best choice and more 'special'/worthwhile than the squirrel one.

Unless somehow having the squirrel Japan only one gets you laid more...?
