    Hi Adan,

Very nice set of pictures of your country. I actually made some pictures of a wind mill trip I did a week ago. I wanted to publish it in the Café forum, but still haven't done it.

In every small town or village you find windmills here. I thought it was nice to make a round around the Island and find a lot of them:

This is a postcard of my Island. As you see it is no longer a real Island, as the East part (at the top, it's rotated 90º left) is grown on South Beveland.

This is the windmill at the end of my street in Middelburg.

It's on the old city defense works on ths south side of the city.

I found this one by accident. It is located on the North side of Middelburg, on the road to Veere. I was visiting a friend, who had a bike accident, but he was in a business meeting, so I made a small extra round... Else I would have forgotten this one was there.

The windmill of Veere, very beautifull located on a dike.

I was passing Gapinge, near Veere. I didn't expect to find a windmill there, but it did have one. One of the wings is under construction.

This is the windmill of Seerooskerke. They have a nice cafe and terrace there.

I just had my HAMA Sky Filter, so I wanted to look if it worked on this Tournesol.

Next, the windmill of Grijpskerke. A nice ground turnable.

Meliskerke is a very small village, but even there I found a windmill.

The windmill of Zoutelande, just about 250m from the sea.

This is the windmill of Biggekerke, that is located outside the small village. I think it's one of the nicest windmills on my island. It is not a big one, but it's location is very beautifull. It need to be repainted soon.

The windmill of Koudekerke. I believe it's recently restaured.

The new entrance to Vlissingen over the former shipyard territory. In the distance the Orange Mill.

This is the Orange Mill of Vlissingen. This windmill I could see from our house as a little kid.

I often pass this windmill on a round around the Island.

Along the habours you can see a lot of modern wind mills.

Wind mill "De Pere" in Oost-Souburg (East-Souburg, Sou is old for South burg = castle).

I actually didn't have all windmills this trip, but I thought 55km was enough for that day. I missed one in the South of Middelburg, one in Nieuwland (new-land), onein Arnemuiden and probably at least two on the north side of the Island.

    I hope you enjoyed.

    Cheers,

    Sjors

    Wow, Adan,

We have some castles here, but they are nothing compared with yours.

One of the most impressive castles I've ever been was this one in Boullion at the French/Belgian border. It's a very old one from the early middle ages:

I went to school in the 80's at this little castle, which is actually more a big villa:

and I see this small castle out of my school windows:

I sometimes drink some tea at this castle at the north side of the Island in Oost Kapelle. It's the only real castle in the neighborhood (as ment as a defense work, as the others are more luxurious vila's in the county side).

    Cheers,

    Sjors

    PS, Those Spanish mills
(Don Chuichotte) are also very impressive.

    Re: Salamanca(bejar-candelario...)

Hang on, Adan - one of your castles is Bodiam Castle in Sussex, England... although I think your photo might be reversed.

It was in the middle of a farm where I used to work. At the start of my time on the farm, I wasn't properly orientated, and didn't realise quite where it was. I was out on a tractor one morning, and it just rose up out of the mist...

We also lost a small herd of cows one day. We caught up with them just as they were entering the castle grounds. Luckily for us, they ran across the bridge into the castle. Easy to round up! They had scattered quite a few people having picnics on the way, and we probably didn't help public relations much by staggering about laughing... I can still remember the sound of them thundering over the bridge.

I used to list my watches here until I realised it ruined people's Google searches...

Perhaps their ancestors lived there and they were homing cows ?

    Very picturesque thread guys
